Today we are announcing a few big changes coming for our Echo and Pulse customers. Until that time, the website will continue to operate as usual — accepting new pencasts and playing back existing pencasts.
We recognize that our customers may have many hours of work saved to their My Livescribe accounts and we want to make sure as many of those pencasts as possible can be used in the years ahead.
In case you do not have backups of your pencasts stored, you can start using our Converter tool to save all your work to your desktop or laptop. The Echo Community was a unique resource when Adobe Flash was a leading web technology and file sharing options were limited. Today with the growth of mobile platforms, new file formats, and a wealth of new sharing options such as wikis, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.
Between now and the release of Echo Desktop, the Echo Community will continue to function as always — you can play back existing pencasts and upload new pencasts as usual. You will continue to be able to convert and play back any pencasts on the Echo Community for the rest of The new converter is live in the Echo Community today, so please go check it out and save your personal pencasts or any public ones from the site.

The current Livescribe Desktop should work fine with Mavericks, please contact cs livescribe. That said, part of the effort for the new Echo Desktop is to make the program work even better on Mavericks and Yosemite.

I have also been having trouble with Livescribe desktop on mavericks. Additionally, the program is not entirely stable. It very pivescribe crashes when syncing my pen, sometimes crashes on startup, and sometimes freezes up just because. I hope they fix this. You should be able to export your pencasts from Livescribe Desktop. I occasionally like to make pen casts for my high school students so they can follow along with me as I solve chemistry problems…will I still be able to do this, with my speech included?
So we want to make it easy for your students to follow along with your lectures. I came here to see if I was the only person that wanted to see Livescribe become compatible with Linux and what do you know, the first comment addresses this issue. Hopefully Livescribe will see there is a demand for this and include Linux users as a potential customer base.
Will the changes also livsecribe to the Livescribe Wifi? The Sky Wifi pen will continue to link up to Evernote and send all notes and pencasts to their servers. Echo Desktop is really designed for Echo smartpens. Just bought the Wifi pen and wanted to send my recordings to OneNote instead of Evernote and this was done, previously, via desktop and connectors.
Are you saying this is no longer possible? My only option with Wifi to view my recordings is via Evernote? Now myself and many people with LD may have to find new tech to meet our needs so please keep the Audio synced with notes. It is important to me to be able to provide only livesrcibe audio portion of a pencast. Does the new PDF format allow that?

Plain and simple, is this update going to usher Echo Desktop pencas into the world of Office compatability with proper OneNote integration? I am another voice with a strong interest in a Linux friendly Livescribe or Echo Desktop application. My Echo pen is a great asset in the classes I teach and in many other things I do, but my desktop and laptop computers all run Ubuntu Linux.

Google Chrome OS and the Chromebooks that use it are Linux based, and a rapidly growing segment of laptop sales, especially in education. The barriers to production of a Linux-compatible Livescribe Desktop are low and falling.

Hi Stefan — you can continue to use the current Livescribe Desktop to play back and export your pencasts, but those files oivescribe be using Adobe Flash, which has limited support these days.
